The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. Any, and all women can become a member who wishes to commit herself to the purpose. A member is encouraged to participate in local meetings and activities and also those of the district, conference, etc., as well as support each financially. The present focus of the UMW is on the needs of women, children and youth. Our local unit participates in several ways each year to benefit local children, (EX. school supplies and needs) , as well as on the District level with Festival of Sharing kits, Jackson Seed Ministry and Children’s Home in Worthington, OH. We also support needs on the conference level as well. The list continues as needs become known.
As a unit, we are encouraged to grow through a Reading Program. These books focus on Education for Mission, Leadership Development, Nurturing for Community, Social Action, and Spiritual Growth. One can read one book or twenty books, depending on the desire.
As previously stated, our main purpose, is Missions. If any lady, young or young in mind, body and spirit, wishes to be a member of this group, there is a place for her. Contact Darlene at 419-986-5386 or dennisd@tghewavz.com for more information.
